The dictionary is the only place success comes before work.
I might be on the right track but unless I’m moving forward I’m going to get run over by the train
Who Am I?
My greatest achievement was to become a husband and a father. They say that behind every great man is a great woman. I'm not sure I am a great man but I certainly outkicked my coverage when I married Diane Magiera. She provided a purpose to my life, I wanted to grow as a person, I wanted to provide as a husband. And when Michael and Kevin were born, life became a series of goals, each time a goal was achieved, a new goal was defined.
Sports was, and is a big part of my life. Through my teenage years I played Little League Baseball, Soccer at a club level and was a springboard diver. As a young adult I played softball where I was named MVP of the Pennsylvania State Championship - our team won the state championship twice and played in the national championships in Arkansas and Oklahoma. More recently I have taken up golf. PAR continues to elude me however, with each round, I get a couple of shots that make me think, I can do this and it brings me back for another round. I am a big fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles and yes, I can now say it, WE ARE SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS!
I have an eclectic education. It took me a while to determine what I wanted to do with my life so I attended schools and classes based on the next goal in my life. I've attended Bucks County and Montgomery County Community College, Temple, Penn State, Delaware Valley and Vilanova University. I've studied Cinematography, Film Making, Computer Science, Accounting, and Project Management.
I have volunteered with children's programs (sports, scouts), social programs (homeless, troubled youths, mental health) and have provided support for the Ronald McDonald House and Gift of Life Program. I have lead or participated in many fund raising programs. I was recognized with citations from the PA House of Representatives and the United States Congress for my volunteer efforts.
Over time, my career specialty became Enterprise Resiliency, my primary skill is data center disaster recovery with secondary skills in business continuity, crisis management, incident management. My work has also put me in positions to participate in both physical and information security.
I consider myself to be quite fortunate. Every setback was a lesson learned, I took advantage of every opportunity and yes, there were some negative outcomes. But I picked myself up, dusted myself off and started all over again (plagiarized line). I always believed I could do anything I wanted as long as I was willing to be persistent, be committed and willing to sacrifice. In hindsight, I think I was right.
